Reasons that Would Make Your Car Get Towed Without Your Consent
The following are situations that would make your car get towed without your permission:
  • Parking illegally: If you have parked your vehicle in a place that has been marked for special purposed like handicapped parking, ambulance parking, or fire hydrant parking without asking for permission to do so, your vehicle can be towed without your consent.
  • If your registration is expired: If it is discovered that you are driving a vehicle whose registration is expired, the officers responsible will tow your vehicle without your consent. You will have to seek a fresh registration before you can be allowed to get your vehicle back.
  • Obstruction: If you have parked your vehicle in such a way that you are blocking a business or a driveway entrance, the authorities have a right to tow your vehicle without asking for your opinion.
  • Lack of a driver’s license: If you are driving a vehicle with an expired driving license or you do not even have one, the authorities will tow the vehicle and you will have to renew your driving license before you are given your vehicle.
  • Disabled car: If the authorities discover that your car is not roadworthy, they have the right to tow it. In case your vehicle breaks down on the road, ensure that you do not leave it for a long time as it will be towed. You should leave a notice informing other road users of the breakdown and get help immediately.
You should be very careful when parking your vehicle to avoid incurring extra expenditure when your car is towed by the authorities. Always read the signs on any available parking and ensure that it is not reserved for a specified vehicle before you pull over.
You should also ensure that your driving license, car registration, and any other requirement is up to date before you get on the road. This will protect you from getting on the wrong side of the lawmakers.
