Illegal Towing

Protect Your Vehicle from Illegal Towing

Though this is a rare occurrence, there are incidences where a person may leave a vehicle at some place due to a mechanical damage, only to come back and find out that the vehicle was towed without his knowledge by some unknown person. To prevent this from happening:
  • For rear-wheel-drive cars, ensure that you park near a stationary object like another stationary vehicle. This will make it almost impossible to tow the vehicle from such a state. You should back into the driveway to make it difficult for anyone to remove the vehicle form the parking.
  • If it is a front-wheel drive vehicle, pull forward as you get in the driveway and park the vehicle near a stationary object.
  • If your car is all-wheel drive, ensure that you park it near a stationary structure to make it difficult to get it from there.
  • Ensure that your vehicle’s wheels are turned in the curb’s direction; a person who may attempt to illegally tow your car while in this state will find it hard to control it as the vehicle will move in circles.
  • Do not leave the ignition key on or leave the key in place; doing this will make it very easy to get the car without raising any alarm.
  • The Ravelco Plug should be removed and connected to the ignition key.
  • Ensure that all the vehicles entry point including the doors and windows are securely locked.
  • You can look for a place that has a secure parking like a garage where it will be impossible for someone to access without creating attention.
  • The emergency breaks should be in place after parking the vehicle; you should also ensure that the transmission is left in the park state.
You should leave your can in a state that no thief will be able to get it off the parking without creating attention. Instead of taking such a risk, a thief will look for a less difficult task and leave your vehicle intact.
