Towing Rules Pleasant View | 84401 | Ogden Tow

Pleasant View Tow

Pleasant View Utah Requires these towing rules be followed

Towing Rules
These rules are good practice followed in Pleasant View Utah and all cities to ensure the safest driving conditions for tow truck drivers.

The following are the rules that govern the towing of vehicles to ensure that both the vehicle being towed and the vehicle that is being towed will be safe until they reach the appointed destination:
  • There should be a sign indicating that the vehicle is ‘On Tow’ which should be strategically placed on the back side of the car that is being towed.
  • You should ensure that you maintain a distance of 4.5 meters between the vehicle being towed and the vehicle being used in the towing. This distance should not be exceeded at any time especially when you are using a rope or a chain.
  • If the towing rope is long enough to allow a distance of more than 15 meters between the two vehicles, you should ensure that the rope is put in a way that the other motorists will be able to view the towing rope. This can be done by putting a ribbon in the middle of the rope.
  • The occupant of the vehicle that is being towed should be a professional driver who will be able to control the vehicle.
  • When towing a vehicle during the night, it should have all the lights on to enhance its visibility to other road users and to also ensure that the driver is able to view the road properly.
  • The towing vehicle should not exceed a speed of 15mph; the towing driver should also ensure that he does not break suddenly or take a sudden turn as this will damage the towing rope. It may also make the driver that is controlling the vehicle being towed to lose his balance and make it difficult to tow.
  • The towing driver should constantly check his mirrors to ensure that the towing process is proceeding as planned. If a problem is noted along the way, it will be wise to pull over and fix it.
Every party involved in the towing should remain alert so that if any problem arises along the way, it will be detected early enough. The towing vehicle and the towing rope should be strong enough to ensure that they will not break down in the towing process.
